Brillouin light-scattering from poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogels
نویسنده
چکیده
2014 The Brillouin shift and width for poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogels of two different crosslink densities have been obtained as a function of gel network volume fraction using a five-pass Fabry-Pérot interferometer. The results are discussed in the light of a theory for Brillouin lightscattering from gels proposed recently by J. A. Marqusee and J. M. Deutch. J. Brillouin light-scattering from polymer gels
The experimental results of the Brillouin shift and width for poly(vinyl alcohol) and poly(vinyl chloride) gels as a function of gel network volume fraction have been analysed using the theory of Marqusee and Deutch for Brillouin light-scattering from polymer gels, incorporated with a new plausible assumption relating the speed of sound in the gel network with its volume fraction. It has been f...
متن کاملSynthesis of pH Sensitive Hydrogels Based on Poly Vinyl Alcohol and Poly Acrylic Acid
In this research, hydrogels based on poly vinyl alcohol and poly acrylic acid blend were prepared which were cross-linked by applied thermal conditions. Afterward, effects of time and heating on water uptake were investigated. The highest water uptake value exhibited by the sample that was heated for 20 min. at 110 ºC was about 2129% after 4 days at equilibrium state. Hydrogels exhibited p...
متن کاملBrillouin light-scattering from poly(acrylic acid) hydrogels
The Brillouin shift and width for poly(acrylic acid) hydrogels have been obtained as a function of gel network volume fraction using a five-pass Fabry-Pdrot interferometer. A conspicuous peak has been observed in the Brillouin shift at high volume fraction. The results are discussed in the light of a theory for the Brillouin light-scattering from gels proposed by Marqusee and Deutch-
متن کاملPolymer and Water Dynamics in Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Poly(methacrylate) Networks. A Molecular Dynamics Simulation and Incoherent Neutron Scattering Investigation
Chemically cross-linked polymer networks of poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(methacrylate) form monolitic hydrogels and microgels suitable for biomedical applications, such as in situ tissue replacement and drug delivery. In this work, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and incoherent neutron scattering methods are used to study the local polymer dynamics and the polymer induced modification of water p...
متن کاملStudy of gelling behavior of poly(vinyl alcohol)-methacrylate for potential utilizations in tissue replacement and drug delivery.
The need of innovative, multifunctional biomaterials for the partial or complete tissue replacement is the driving force for the search of improvements of the performances of the available materials and in the formulation of new ones. Addressing the focus to vitreous substitution, we have explored the possibility of using injectable aqueous solutions of poly(vinyl alcohol), PVA, derivatives abl...
